EQUALITY – IoT4Industry: A new way to identify gases emissions in the industry

Language-English English

This project was born with the goal of focusing on the health and safety at work of pregnant women and women in breastfeeding periods. Motivated by the risks they are exposed to during their working day such as intense noises, thermal stress and gases from multiple sources (thermal degradation and solvents or lubricants applied in the pelletizing processes), the main objectives of this project are to provide a decision tool for factory managers to adapt the tasks of the target employees in the company or even to adapt the production schedule of the working day of these employees to facilitate risk-free work-life balance for the pregnant woman and later, the lactating infant. To assure compliance with occupational therapy regulations and recommendations.

This objective can be achieved nowadays thanks to the new and available IoT technologies that allow to take real-time measurements on specific positions on the factory plants without interfering with the work on the plant. By collecting and analysing air quality data, the plant manager can replan the employee’s tasks to limit the time of exposure. Additionally, it is possible to identify specific high emitting materials and processes, trace the contamination of the vapours produced by the extrusion. Moreover, one could optimize machine and process parameters to minimize emissions.

An interdisciplinary team has been established to determine the requirements, to choose the tools used for implementing the tests in the factory and to evaluate the collected results.

The test have been performed in Murcia (Spain) at Lisanplast S.L., an extrusion of polymers plant and part of the Equality consortium.

An accessible Cybersecurity solution to protect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

Language-English English

Today, we are immersed in an online environment in which more and more companies use electronic devices to the detriment of traditional processes to perform recurring tasks such as bank transfers, grants and buying products and/or services.

Following the creation of the connected world, the term cyber-attack appears as defining any illegal activities carried out by electronic/computer means, which causes harm to individuals and organizations to benefit at their expense. From this new problem arises a need for solutions opening a new line of business to really shield companies, users and any other organizations that perform operations on the network.

Currently, the main providers of cybersecurity solutions are quite large corporations such as Cisco, Fortinet or Palo Alto. Although the need for these solutions is very broad, the low number of reliable cybersecurity solutions and their high prices make this market an area inaccessible to SMEs with limited resources. In other words, this protection is currently not available for small and medium-sized enterprises although 60% of the attacks in 2015 were targeted towards this profile of company, discovering more than 430 million new malwares that produce harm and effect profitability of the company and in its relationships with the supplier/customer or partner.

“Reliable cybersecurity solutions have very high prices for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), even though they are one of the main targets of cyberattacks”

This need for secure network transactions for small and medium-sized enterprises opens up a new market niche that needs to be exploited. From this necessity, the FORTIKA project (nº identification 740690) has been born. This project is subsidized by the European Commission and is part of the Horizon 2020 program. The execution of this security aspect is distributed among a network of 16 European organizations dedicated to the sector of cybersecurity, technology and innovation ICTs. These entities are located in different European countries such as Greece, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Italy and Ireland, highlighting members such as HOPU, CERTH, Fraunhofer, the Institute of Technology of Crete (TEIC), Future Intelligence, ENEO Technology, Nextel/S21SEC, the University of Macedonia(UoM), Tech Inspire, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), XLAB, Motivian EOOD, ALKE’SRL, Nemetschek, Obrela Security Industries and Wattics.

SerIoT Project

Description about project SerIoT

Language-English English

The IoT  has come to us faster than we think. IoT was given birth in the late 10´s, when the threshold was crossed to connect more objects than people on the Internet, as a result of a progressive evolution in previous years. This event caused the industry, homes and society of the European Union to increase the security risks that accompany this new hyper-connected technological world, second by second. Attacks on the content and service quality of the IoT platforms can have economic, energetic and physical security consequences that go beyond the lack of traditional security of the Internet, and far beyond the various threats that are arisen. Nowadays, the data are the main asset of a business, the data are vital; if they fall into the wrong hands, the consequences can be enormous. The IoT devices are so present in our day to day that they can be a danger for the security of the data, since the devices connected to the Internet can have deficiencies such as: users and access passwords by default and without mechanisms that force the user to change them for safer ones; web pages of control and configuration insecure or accessible remotely; lack of customization in security settings, among others. This default make it easier the data collection for cybercriminals looking for this type of device as an entry point to the company’s networks or to other points of the network that are more protected. Due to the entire process of digital transformation in which companies or organizations are immersed, attacks against computer security have increased. Because of this, the importance of cybersecurity has increased in the last decade as a consequence of an increase in cyberattacks, helping us to take the necessary precautions to protect information.

As a result of the increase in demand from service businesses related to cybersecurity, the SerIoT project was born, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.

HOP-Ubiquitous-SerIoT-Connectivity
This project began on January 1, 2018 and will end on December 31, 2020, having duration of three years with a total budget for execution of € 4,999,083.75.The consortium will be composed by the main European actors in the field of Internet of Things, bringing together the most important European technology companies such as DT/T-Sys (T-Systems) and ATOS, with highly competitive SMEs such as HIS, HOPU, GRUVENTA, HIT and ATECH and leading European research organizations worldwide such as CERTH, JCR, TUB, ICCS, IITIS-PAN and TECNALIA and universities such as UESSEX and TUB.This project aims to optimize the security of information on IoT platforms and networks in order to recognize suspicious patterns, evaluate them and, finally, decide on the detection of a possible evasion of security, privacy in a comprehensive and cross (ie, platforms and IoT devices, computer security tools that allow detecting attacks, SDN routers and operator controllers) with the purpose of offering a secure platform that can be used to deploy platforms, security protocols and networks anywhere.SerIoT plans to use Blockchain technology for the validation of users and recording of cyber attacks, defined by Marc Andreessen as a ledger of digital events that allows information about data transfers in a secure, publically verifiable and efficient way. All transactions or data transfers do not require any intermediary because they are distributed in intelligent nodes, which register and validate the information of the different blocks. The information can only be updated based on the consensus of the majority of the system participants and cannot be removed from the blockchain. The reason for which it is planned to use the properties of this technology is to help improve the deficiencies that the IoT presents, helping to maintain an unchanging record of the history of smart devices, as well as improving the security and confidence of the messages through the use of smart contracts. This cutting-edge technology has already been introduced by some companies to the field of IoT.The network created by SerIoT will be unique. With this measure, it will generate significant savings by unifying all SerIoT services with a more agile, flexible and integrated organizational model, and also portable, benefiting from services anywhere in the world due to the implementation of networks in different parts of the territory, what will make it possible to lead the success of Europe in the Internet of things. SerIoT will be installed, implemented and validated in emerging areas (for example, Smart Transportation, Surveillance, flexible manufacturing and industry 4.0, as main business areas). These advances will be evaluated on both individual lab test-beds which in a european scenario through UEssex and demonstrated his applicability with the use cases develop by industry partners, for example Gruventa, Telecom Innovation Laboratories, Hypertech innovations. Among the cases of use of the project, we can find:

  1. Surveillance: focused on the operation of the system, on the transmission of data from surveillance networks, as well as patented social networks. The sensitive information that affects personal data, covered by legislation, will be protected against unauthorized access.
  2. Smart Transportation Systems in Smart Cities (ITS): analysis and definition of security solutions. The main concept is to integrate information technology, electronics, wireless communications technology, sensors and navigation systems such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems in order to allow data transmission.
  3. Flexible manufacturing system: will deal with flexible manufacturing systems (Industry 4.0) which refer to a sophisticated approach to allow the connected industry to create value and new business models.
  4. Food supply chain: will provide end-to-end security through communication channels, in a food chain scenario, by addressing device authentication mechanisms, detection and prevention of denial of service attacks, as well as detection precocious interruption of IoT devices.

Among the general aims to be achieved with the implementation of this project are:

Provide new means of understanding threats

HOP Ubiquitous - Fortika Project

Contribution in the project FORTIKA by HOP Ubiquitous

Language-English English

HOP-Ubiquitous-Fortika-Project

http://fortika-project.eu/

Digital technologies driving an increasingly connected world of people, guarantee a lucrative future for cyber-security companies, and this connection can become a big headache for businesses, especially the small ones. According to Symantec, 60% of targeted attacks in 2015 aimed at small businesses. 77% of all cyber-crimes target SMEs. Currently, cyber-security solutions for businesses are designed to provide multilayer proactive protection.

Because of the complexity of these tasks, no-single security solution can address the whole threats landscape in a practical and effective way.

The main objectives of the FORTIKA project is to provide an embedded, smart and robust security layer enhanced with an adaptive data security management tool; create a B2B cybersecurity marketplace for SMEs that allows an easy access to trusted, existing and peer reviewed solutions, and to comparative data based on functional characteristics and prices; and provide tailored cybersecurity insights in line with each SME needs -tailored security services are highly sensitive to the context and the user requirements, and a service may not require the same level of adaptation, therefore various levels of adaptation are needed in ICT services; offer a novel architecture for the provision of highly adaptive cybersecurity services and intelligence dynamically adjusted to the changing needs of SMEs; apply a behavioural analysis to determine and evaluate the risk level of organizational processes and/or individual behaviours with the aim of automatically implementing appropriate incentives for behavioural change and awareness raising; validate the proposed technology and the commercial framework through demonstrations in medium and small businesses; perform all required activities to improve the overall cybersecurity performance of the digital and modern ecosystem of SMEs and create a secure and uninterrupted information system, offering a wide variety of tailored information security services.

To fulfil its vision, the project adopts a hybrid security approach through a design that adequately integrates hardware and software with business needs and behavioural patterns at individual and organizational level to introduce a hardware-enabled middleware security layer as add-on to existing network gateways, and guide small businesses users towards trusted cybersecurity services. In sum, Fortika proposes a resilient overall cybersecurity solution that can be easily tailored and adjusted to the versatile and dynamically changing needs of a small business.

The Fortika middleware will be easily adopted or embedded on existing networks and each user/administrator will be able to choose from a number of security services available through Fortika trusted security marketplace. In order to a service to become available in the marketplace, a series of criteria have to be fulfilled: usability, relevance, operational transparency and security effectiveness.

The introduction of a software- defined smart ecosystem in “FORTIKA marketplace” will provide a solution, which will offer virtualized security services. From their perspective, users may use a variety of services and share profile information with the service providers in return for tailored security services aligned with their real needs.

Ultimately, Fortika also aims to minimize the exposure of small and medium businesses to cybersecurity risk and threats, and help them successfully respond to cybersecurity incidents, while relieving them from all unnecessary and costly efforts of identifying, acquiring and using the appropriate cybersecurity solutions.

Fortika-Connectivity

The contribution of HOPU in this project consists in developing a platform service that enables sharing of FORTIKA projects. The FORTIKA marketplace will enable service providers to specify complete services (the required software, hardware and resources) and sell and advertise these through a secure and easy to use interface. The different issues that HOPU address in this project include payment, quality of service and integration with existing resource databases.

Also we will carry out a study about the applicability of integrating the marketplace with other compliant resources (for example, databases and web shops) in order to provide a live view of available services and their associated costs.

HOPU will valorise and evolve the existing edge computing orchestration architecture, intelligence distribution capabilities and network infrastructure with new edge services for the threats detections, traffic behaviour analysis for anomalies detection, intrusion detection subsystem, behaviours modelling from IoT-related devices such as security systems (motion sensors, alarms, etc.), wearables and other Internet connected objects. These services will be interconnected with the Decision Support System for the prevention, detection, control and mitigation of cyber-threats.

HOPU has a strong background in security for end-devices, networks management and innovative security mechanisms such as data processing with homomorphic cryptography and distributed data storage with blockchain that will be considered in case of the required services for preventing cyber-threats and data leaks from the SMEs that will be targeted with the suite provided by FORTIKA.

HOP Ubiquitous - Sustainable Cities

Key verticals to build a Sustainable Smart City

Language-English English

Nowadays, the process towards the conversion from a City to a Smart City is not fully clear. However, there is a wide-spread support from big agents as the European Union and global institutions as the United Nations and the ITU, which are defining these objectives and definitions.

The context is that by 2050, the world population will reach 11.200 million of inhabitants, which will be geo-located mainly in Asian and African continent (over 80%). Furthermore, there will be population exodus towards the cities which will host over 70% of the world population. Besides, the necessity to deploy a smart and automatic system trained to manage the growing population is arising. Since the introduction of the human communities as life style, cities have been characterized by being pioneers in technological innovation hubs, social reforms catalysers, and sources for technological and cultural development. Therefore, technology plays a crucial role leading this big transformation to solve urban problems and providing solutions towards a better quality of life and innovations in different areas.

It is necessary the implantation of quick, secure, and self-manageable smart systems which allow to the cities the traffic management, safety, environment management, energy efficiency, supplies regulation, etc.

Smart Cities’ key verticals have a clear impact and return of investment. Among the Smart Cities’ main keys could found:

Efficient urban planning: The growing concerns over the environmental degradation involve a sustainable city design. The new emerging urban development needs a sustainable planning that allows to minimize the human impact on the ecosystem and improve the citizen´s life quality. A sustainable urban development model should encompass green areas, make more use of public transportation reducing the use of car, have a correct waste management planning and promote energy efficiency of public buildings and the services accessibility for all citizens.

Key verticals to build a Sustainable Smart City

Efficient Urban Mobility and Public Transportation: The public transport has considerable importance in the government sustainable development plans for pollution control, for the social and economic effects and for the interrelationships with other sectors. The increase experienced by this sector during the last years make the sustainability of the transport a priority.
One of the problems found in our society is the numbers of cars the reason why our cities suffer traffic jams.

Thus, big cities are establishing restrictions such as, the pollutant vehicles restrictions. In addition, the cities have incident management applications to solve problems related to the mobility making routes for avoid traffic jams and allowing to find car park slots efficiently, especially for people with reduced mobility.

HOP Ubiquitous - Sustainable Smart City

Improving environmental sustainability: Spanish cities could be more sustainable to improve their economy, their environment and the quality of their citizens.

Citizens should apply more actions to improve their sustainability and their city. The expert recommendations are very wide: save energy opting for renewable sources, reduce the water consumption and the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), among others.

ICT would be used for reducing the emissions level of greenhouse gases and decreasing the human activity environmental impact.

On the other hand, it is necessary to support anti-pollutions plans, ecological buildings, alternative energies and policies that counter pollution, what would improve the cities sustainability. Now, lot of cities are understanding the importance of this measures and have environmental pollution control systems which evaluate the air quality, the noise level and the crowd monitoring in a specific location through sensors.

Wind Energy

Human interactions: Creating awareness among citizens about the state of the city is also essential for a positive environmental development. Consequently, to create a sustainable Smart City is important the Apps and notifications development that enables to interact with people´s smartphones through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi informing about quality air, temperature/humidity or noise in a determined city.

Mobile Apps

Our main product, the Smart Spot, encompass this four points before mentioned. It provides data about air quality. In order to monitor the air pollution, Smart Spot measures the NO2, CO, SO2, NO, H2S and O3 at specific points in real time. We have a sophisticated high precision lab, with a Mass Flow Controller and a Zero Air Generator, where, through Machine Learning algorithms, we improve the precision of our sensor measures reducing the effect of cross sensitivity. Also, it provides information in real time about temperature and humidity in specific points gathering complementary data. In addition, it measure noise levels (30 dB- 130dB9) everywhere.

And finally, Physical Web technologies enable to interact with people´s smartphones in an area up to 80 metres through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi without installing any App. This URL shows up as a non-intrusive notification which allows to access to online content to enjoy in these physical areas. The digital online content can be changed thanks to the URL Manager, a software platform that permits to edit the push notification that Smart Spot transmits.

The cities are developing quickly and, consequently, it is necessary the implantation of systems that permit to manage all the variables through the use of ICT and, in particular, Internet of Things (IoT).

On November 30 at the University of Deusto, Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. WeLive Hackathon presented the top 4 finalist, which gave solution to challenges proposed by the city of Bilbao. Our Smart Destination solution BI·Memories was awarded as the best application and solution.

Antonio Jara, HOP Ubiquitous CEO, picking up the award from WeLive team.
Antonio Jara, HOP Ubiquitous CEO, picking up the award from WeLive team.

WeLive is a platform for co-creation of mobile applications that meets the needs of citizens. It acts as a link among citizens, city and developers, who join forces to solve the challenges that the cities of Bilbao, Trento, Helsinki and Novi Sad publish in the platform. The Hackathon WeLive proposed by the city of Bilbao aimed to create a mobile application that would respond to the needs of the citizens and stakeholders of Bilbao. WeLive, together with its collaborators, Tecnalia, University of Deusto, Bilbao City Council, Engineering, among others, awarded BI·Memories as the best application of Hackathon WeLive Bilbao.

BI·Memories is a solution to respond to the need of cities to conserve and disseminate their intangible cultural heritage (as defined by UNESCO). This project preserves and disseminates the intangible cultural heritage of Bilbao with the aim of relating stories, anecdotes and feelings around a physical area that complements tourism experiences. These personal stories allow us to create an emotional relationship that extends tourist experiences through the eyes of Bilbao citizens’. A process that involves the visitor, who enjoy, comments and vote through BI·Memories, at the same time that they feel as citizens for a day.

The essence of the city of Bilbao are the citizens and their popular stories that constitute the identity of a point of interest. These experiences enrich to population and involve visitors with the cultural heritage of the city, making them live unique and complete experiences. Through their mobile phones the citizens of Bilbao and their visitors can access exclusive and geolocated videos that tell the stories of the citizens of Bilbao about the point of interest. The videos are uploaded to YouTube and thanks to our Smart Spot (our smart devices) nearby users receive a notification on the mobile phone that gives them access to a Web-App where they can watch videos and much more information without the need to install any application on the mobile.

Smart Spot device with all the extensions.
Smart Spot device with all the extensions.

Smart Spot contextualizes the information of each point of interest sending notifications by proximity to mobile phones through Bluetooth Low Energy and WiFi Direct in a range of 1 to 80 meters, without installing any native App. In addition the device measures temperature, humidity, noise, air quality and Crowd Monitoring, which allows BI·Memories to show users the comfort of a place to facilitate the planning of their tourist routes.

The videos disseminated by BI·Memories in its Web-App does not last more than a minute and, being related to the tourist point, allows to live at the same time a physical and digital experience. For citizens to publish stories in BI·Memories, they need to upload to YouTube and assign a specific hashtag for each point of interest (#BIM + name of the point of interest) that allows to BI·Memories recognize and introduce them in the corresponding point of interest. All videos must comply with minimum requirements (videos must not last more than 1 min, must contain the Hashtag and the position of the video recording must be horizontal). Once the videos pass to BI·Memories, the Web-App shows them according to the weighting between the visualizations, the number of “likes” and the time that has been published, showing the content according to the preference of BI·Memories users.

Smart Spot diagram
Smart Spot diagram

For the ideation of BI·Memories we made a co-creation process that is divided into different stages, the first one is to know the needs and interests of the citizens, so we use the City Living Lab of Ceutí, where we carry out different Workshops with citizens of all ages and with the City to identify the needs of the place. In this stage it was detected that a large part of the citizens of Ceutí had a great interest to preserve the stories of the past and to make known the connection they have with this territory. This project was born with the aim of adding the experiences of a town to the tourist experiences to involve visitors with the material and cultural heritage of Ceutí.

Process of uploading content to BI·Memories
Process of uploading content to BI·Memories

Once we detected the need and proposed the solution, we started using the prototype that helped us understand the dissemination of the town’s stories. For this reason, the Web-App shows the content in a one-minute video, capturing the attention of the users. These contents contextualize the information about real experiences in a physical place. In addition, the tool is disseminated by Physical Web, thereby, users do not have the need to download any App, freeing space on the user’s Smartphone and opening endless viewing possibilities.

Anecdotes and personal experiences, human tourism for humans, through citizens, Smart Spot and the intangible heritage of each city.

We adapted the prototype of Ceutí to the city of Bilbao through the Hackathon Go App Bilbao, where we had the collaboration of two mentors who helped us understand the needs of Bilbao. The content of the Web-App will be generated by the citizens and it will be updated by the same people from Bilbao. In addition, BI·Memories connects tour guides with visitors to make trips through the city.

The first point deployed in the city of Bilbao is within the University of Deusto, specifically in the “Plaza de la Memoria”. Starting from this point and as part of the co-creation process, we contacted Bilbao citizens and media to know their interest in the project.

Within the process of co-creation, the last stage was the use of the WeLive tool, which allowed us to know the challenges proposed by the city of Bilbao, to know the needs of its citizens and to publish BI·Memories in the ideation space, where all those interested could comment the Web-App for its improvement and evolution. WeLive also helped us to the development of the Web-App, since it put at our disposal Building Blocks (small modules programmed to bring our solution to reality), open data repositories about events, and a Marketplace where to publish the solution for the citizens of Bilbao.

We will continue with this proposal towards a new type of tourism, Smart Destination, in which provide agile experiences are offered that invite co-creation and citizen participation in the generation of content. BI·Memories, as a finalist of the first phase in GoApp Bilbao, participates in the second phase of this Hackathon, called CimuBISARIA, with which the Web-App will be launched in the Google Store and iOS Store this December.

IoT World Congress received a large number of innovators and professionals showing the great investment and trust around IoT technological sector.

This event mobilized over 10,000 people from 70 different countries who enjoyed 3 full days of demonstrations, talks and exhibitions. The event was a proof of the revolution that the IoT has brought in multiple markets and in general about the new opportunities of interconnecting any kind of objects in our environment with the different digital services.

IoT technology opens a door to the impossible, creating an interconnection of physical objects to the Internet to establish bidirectional links with any element facilitating the collection of small pieces of data that integrated with all the available data sources are reaching the so-called Big Data, where we are already being witness of how this data revolution is supporting during all the phases of an industry, city or personal consumer life.

Nowadays, IoT is exploring and discovering new fields of action such as Smart Cities, an area, where IoT plays a decisive role in the development of smart infrastructures that promote more efficient management of these regions.

The use of IoT devices in Smart Cities improves the engagement of citizens in their communities as they allow the creation of efficient, agile and comfortable communication channels between the government and citizens; monitor the emission of gases (air quality); sustainable public lighting in conjunction with other public services such as waste management to reduce bad smells and toxic gases emissions and also better signaling, mobility management and safety.

At the end of the day, a smart city process starts in the co-creation and communication with the citizens and that through multiple actions in multiple domains, converge into a common benefit in the enhancement of the wellness and quality of life for our cities and their citizens, i.e. ourselves.

All these solutions fit within the IoT, and in particular the approach defined by the FIWARE platform and FIWARE ecosystem. FIWARE presented at the IoT World Congress its different solutions that developed a common management structure to facilitate the integration of different devices with each other and in the cities.

FIWARE is a community that join different technology companies for the development of an open ecosystem around cities to integrate multiple solutions in a common structure and so they are fully interoperable with each other, feedback and build a deeper environment that takes to the development of more functional smart cities. The development of these platforms is key to the growth and functionality of Smart Cities, for this reason we are committed to initiatives such as Open and Agile Smart Cities (OASC) association with over 100 cities enrolled and FIWARE technology as th basis for making it feasible.

HOP Ubiquitous as a Gold Member of the FIWARE Foundation, was al present in the presentation of how FIWARE and the solutions from HOP Ubiquitous are contributing to the creation of adapted and standardized solutions to satisfy the described process from the co-creation and citizens engagement to the deployment of solutions based on IoT to reach the digitalization and enhancement of different areas in the city.

As part of the FIWARE community, we show our solution in the IoT World Congress, HOP Ubiquitous presented the Smart Spot product, which is the commodity solution from HOP Ubiquitous, which offers a versatile solution to interact with citizens at the same time that  collects relevant ambient data.  Read more about HOP Ubiquitous solutions: brochure

In details, Smart Spot collects temperature data, humidity, air quality parameters (NO2, SO2, O3, H2S, etc.), crowd monitoring (counting people via WiFi around), noise levels and transmit them to any FIWARE-based cloud platform such as our partners NEC, Telefonica, Engineering, Orange and ATOS from the FIWARE Foundation, as our own platform based on FIWARE, HomardSmart Spot are incorporated into the FIWARE infrastructure through the IoT Agent that connects with FIWARE’s ORION CONTEX BROKER, which allows the integration of Smart Spot with other solutions and communication with other devices that offer more functional and complete solutions.

Smart Spot are small devices that have the ability to create an area of interaction with citizens and visitors. These devices send a URL (Web page link to open it in any browser such as smart phone Internet browser) to allow users to connect to online content and discover websites from physical locations. In addition, as mentioned Smart Spot measures air quality, temperature and humidity; they also collect data on the energy consumption or the noise level in the atmosphere and act as a person counter (Crowd Monitoring), allowing to estimate the comfort level of different zones.

At the IoT World Congress we present, together with other solutions SmartSDK project that is carried out jointly with FIWARE. For SmartSDKthe Smart Spot creates a point of interaction with citizens and visitors to provide them with information about relevant places in Mexico City together with environmental monitoring data. The devices are installed in the top of the bus fleet of the Technological Institute Tec de Monterrey, taking advantage of their routes to collect data and make them available to users on the public transport route. Thereby, Smart Spot contribute to the Smart City ecosystem of Mexico City in 5 pillars: environmental monitoring, commitments/engagement with citizens, tourism and open data together with Open Interfaces (FIWARE).
